1998 Marshall Scholar Josh West wins Silver Medal
Josh West, 1998 Marshall Scholar, rowed in Great Britain's 8 to win a silver medal at the Beijing Olympics on Sunday 17 August 2008. The Marshall Commission congratulates him and his team members on this great achievement.
"Twice a World Championship silver medallist, a World Championship bronze
medallist and four times Cambridge Blue, Josh represented GB in the eight at the
2004 Olympic Games in Athens. He raced in the eight in the 2007 World Cup series
winning a bronze medal in Amsterdam. Josh won a bronze medal at the 2007 World
Championships in the eight. He raced in the eight in the 2008 World Cup series

Josh undertook a PhD in Earth Sciences at Caius College, Cambridge on his Marshall Scholarship and is now a NERC Fellow at the University of Oxford.
Josh is not the first Marshall to participate in the Olympics, Monty Hoyt, 1967 Marshall Scholar, skated in the Winter Olympics 1964 and was US Champion Figure Skater 1962
