Originally from Grand Haven, MI, Leah Matchett is a senior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a double major in geology and global studies. Her two internships at the State Department and one at the US Department of Interior sparked an interest in nonproliferation and science based international policy. On campus she helped found and is the current president of ACDIS student group ,a preprofessional organization for students interested in international security. She is also involved in student activism surrounding college affordability. She will be pursuing the MPhil in International Relations at Oxford to better understand the politics of nonproliferation.
