Christopher Fisher spent most of his career at Lazard, the City bank, latterly as a managing director.  He subsequently worked at KPMG as vice chairman, corporate finance, and at Penfida, the corporate finance adviser to pension fund trustees, as a senior partner.  On corporate boards, he has held appointments as chairman of Bank of Ireland UK, as chairman of Southern Cross Healthcare and as a non-executive director of Kelda, the FTSE 100 water group.  On public bodies he has served as President of the Council of the University of Reading and as a member of the Trustee Board of the Imperial War Museum.

In addition to his role with the Marshall Commission, he is currently a non-executive director of SEGRO, the FTSE 100 property company, and of National Savings & Investments, the Government’s retail funding agency.

He is a Kennedy Scholar (1976-78) and a graduate of the University of Reading and the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Reading in December 2016.
