Sam graduated summa cum laude from the University of Kansas with a degree in American studies, biochemistry and Spanish. He served as the Executive Director of the KU Center for Community Outreach, a nonprofit that oversees twelve volunteer programs, and helped implement school-based health centers across his state, which provide affordable primary and behavioral health care to students. As a Marshall Scholar, Sam will read for a master’s in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) to prepare for a career of advancing equitable welfare reform. Sam is happily from Topeka, Kansas.
