Bill De La Rosa

Tuscon, AZ native Bill De La Rosa, is a recent graduate of Bowdoin College with a BA in Sociology and Latin American Studies. A Mexican-American, first-generation college student, Bill has focused his academic efforts on examining the human consequences of border security and migration, completing a thesis on the subject through two summers of ethnographic research along the Arizona-Sonora border while serving as an American delegate for the United States-Mexico Forum for Cooperation, Understanding and Solidarity. Among his many accomplishments, Bill has been named a Gates Millennium Scholar, a Harry S. Truman Scholar and in 2016, was named the Hispanic Scholar of the Year by the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. Bill’s interest on the issues of migration and border security will continue in the UK, where he plans to pursue an MSc in Migration Studies and a DPhil in International Development at the University of Oxford.
