Tenzin Gund-Morrow, originally from New York City, is a senior at Harvard College concentrating in Social Studies with a secondary in Government. For the past year, Tenzin has served as the President of the Institute of Politics at the Harvard Kennedy School, the largest student organization at Harvard University. At the IOP, he founded a Dinners Across Difference fellowship, oversaw the launch of a Global Affairs Program and Program for Environmental Politics, and expanded opportunities in civic arts, public safety policy, and racial justice. Tenzin is also an Undergraduate Fellow at the Safra Center for Ethics, a Student Ambassador for the Harvard and the Legacy of Slavery Initiative, and a member of the Arts Board of the Harvard Advocate Magazine. Off campus, Tenzin has been a Liman Fellow working on Alternatives-to-Incarceration at the Legal Action Center, a Schaeffer Fellow in Government Service on the Press Team of Democratic House Leader Hakeem Jeffries, an intern in the Biden-Harris White House Office of Communications, and a Fong Wintern with New York City Council Member Chi Ossé. In his free time, Tenzin loves baking family dessert recipes, exploring the visual arts, and being a part of his local Quaker community.
As a Marshall Scholar, Tenzin will study preventative urban planning and policy solutions to public safety issues in the US and UK. Following two years abroad, Tenzin hopes to return home so he can pilot supportive housing models and Alternative-to-Incarceration programs that recenter the city around care rather than control.
