Mark Tang, from Moraga, CA, is a senior at the United States Air Force Academy scheduled to graduate in May 2026 majoring in Political Science and Management from USAFA’s Martinson Honors College.
Mark is a 2025 Harry S. Truman Scholar and Stamps Scholar interested in studying nuclear security and nonproliferation. As a Stamps Scholar, Mark has conducted research on nuclear nonproliferation with the Institute for National Security Studies in the Republic of Korea and Japan. Mark interned at the Joint-Staff Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Planning Division at the Pentagon, Pacific Air Forces Strategic Competition Division, Capitol Hill, and the Nevada Test Site.
Mark plays on the Air Force Academy’s Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association team and was recognized as the 2025 Godekeraw Award Winner during his junior year, the most prestigious award for a club lacrosse player in the U.S. At the Air Force Academy, Mark has served as the Wing Command Chief and Group 1 Chief of Staff, student leadership positions where he oversaw policy reform and implementation for the 4,000-person cadet wing.
In his free time, Mark loves to read, explore the world, and watch the Golden State Warriors. After graduation, he will commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Space Force and attend the Space Officer Training Course.
