Dhruvak Mirani
Dhruvak Mirani studies dual degrees in Computer Science and International Relations at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he serves as Student Body President. A 2025 Truman Scholar, he plans to work in U.S. national security after completing his graduate studies.
In 2024, Gov. Wes Moore appointed Dhruvak to the University System of Maryland Board of Regents, where he represents more than 170,000 students and helps shape higher education statewide. Previously, as UMD’s Student Liaison to the College Park City Council, Dhruvak helped pass a $150,000 rent subsidy pilot program for students with demonstrated financial need.
Dhruvak has also interned in the U.S. House of Representatives and worked on three successful board of education campaigns in Maryland. He is a former columnist for UMD’s student newspaper, The Diamondback, and has published op-eds on higher education issues in The Hill and The Baltimore Sun.
As a Marshall Scholar, Dhruvak plans to apply for a MSc in Global Security at the University of Glasgow, followed by a MSc in Cyber Security at King’s College London.
