Daniel Yu
Daniel Yu, from New York City, is completing a B.A. in African American Studies at Princeton University on the Race and Public Policy track, alongside minors in Gender & Sexuality Studies and English. His academic commitments lie at the intersections of race and gender justice, especially Black queer and trans studies. For this work, he has received top academic honors, including Princeton’s Freshman First Honor Prize, the Shapiro Prize for Academic Excellence, and early induction into Phi Beta Kappa.
Beyond the classroom, Daniel is deeply invested in political organizing and queer justice, having recently completed internships at Lambda Legal and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). He also serves as a Head Writing Fellow at the Princeton University Writing Center and a Peer Education and Leadership Fellow with the university’s Gender and Sexuality Resource Center. In his free time, he enjoys running, crossword puzzles, and exploring cities via public transit.
As a Marshall Scholar, Daniel plans to study the role of race and racism in the contemporary “anti-gender” movement. He is looking forward to spending the next two years in the UK!
