Nolan Musslewhite
Nolan Musslewhite, from Washington DC, is a final year history student at Princeton University. Nolan’s thesis investigates Royal Navy efforts to suppress the East African Slave Trade in the 19th century for which he won a Stone/Davis prize to complete his research in the national archives of Kenya, Zanzibar and the UK. In 2023, Nolan was selected as a War Studies Fellow at the Institute for the Study of War in Washington DC and has interned for three U.S. Senators and the U.S. Department of Defense.
Nolan co-founded and co-directs the Africa Program at the Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination, a leading Princeton research and policy institute program and is co-president of Princeton's chapter of the Alexander Hamilton Society, a foreign policy and national security-focused leadership development organization for college students.
As a Marshall Scholar, Nolan will apply for African Studies at The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) followed by History at the University of Oxford. After completing his studies, Nolan hopes to play a role in shaping US policy towards Africa.
