Ghael Fobes graduated from Syracuse University in 2022 with a BS in Broadcast and Digital Journalism. While at Syracuse, Ghael reported on how small businesses responded to pandemic closures and the historic toll redlining on the city’s Black community, receiving statewide and national recognition in journalism.  He also helped launch the Daily Orange Podcast for Syracuse University’s independent newspaper.

He has covered the Biden administration and the last two presidential elections with the network.  He also mentors through the White House Correspondents’ Association and works with up-and-coming journalists at Syracuse University.  Outside of study and work, Ghael is a certified Junior Maine Guide and has spent many summers leading canoe trips and teaching wilderness skills to young people at Winona Camps.

As a Marshall Scholar, Ghael plans to pursue an MSc in Data and Artificial Intelligence Ethics and an MSc in Future Governance, both at the University of Edinburgh.
