Durham University

A Fort Lauderdale, Florida native, Jackson Foster will graduate from the University of Alabama with degrees in religion and history, as well as minors in the Blount and Randall Research scholars programs. His research primarily concerns early-modern English law—particularly, how its injustices structured a growing Tudor state and mirror those in the present. He also writes on the philosophy of religion, using machine learning to map inclusive futures for the field. Jackson is Editor-in-Chief of the Crimson Historical Review, and he spent last year earning his bureaucratic stripes at the National Endowment for the Humanities. As a Marshall Scholar, he will pursue an MA in medieval and early modern studies, along with a subsequent MDS in digital humanities, at Durham.
