I am delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Emily Charnock as the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Marshall Programme. This is a new role which the MACC and the FCDO agreed was needed both to manage the demands of a contemporary scholarship scheme and realise our ambitions as we expand following the 25 percent uplift announced earlier this year in the Atlantic Declaration.
Emily was appointed following an open selection process run by the British Council which attracted a high quality and diverse field of candidates. As you will see from her profile, she is eminently qualified to take on the role.
As CEO, Emily will be responsible to me and the MACC and will also be a member of the British Council Higher Education and Science Global Leadership Team.
I am very much looking forward to working with Emily and to welcoming her to the Marshall community. She will take up her role in January 2024 when she will be in touch with Scholars.
Best wishes,
John Raine CMG OBE
