John Innes Research Centre, Norwich
Jodi is from Susanville, CA and studies how organisms respond to their ever-changing surroundings. She learned biology from several amazing scientists including Dr. Ingrid Parker (UC Santa Cruz), the Cropsolution, Inc. team (Silicon Valley), Dr. Simon Chan (UC Davis), and Dr. Jennifer Nemhauser (University of Washington). Her PhD work with Dr. Nemhauser studied dynamic regulation of early seedling development using time-lapse photography and molecular biology. Jodi is moving on to study plant-microbe interactions with Dr. Giles Oldroyd at the John Innes Centre in Norwich, England. Dr. Oldroyd leads a Gates Foundation funded effort to engineer symbiotic associations into cereals.
