University of Cambridge
Marshall Sherfield Fellow Greg earned an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering at Case Western Reserve University, where he got introduced to the field of biomechanics. Staying at Case for his PhD, he learned to combine neurobiological techniques with mechanical engineering skills to study the nervous system and the musculature of the marine mollusk Aplysia californica. He then used those techniques to help design and build a mollusc-like gripping robot. As a Marshall fellow, he will be studying the biomechanics of insect jumping in the Zoology department at Cambridge University. Outside of research, Greg enjoys ballroom dancing, fencing, and folklore.
