Joshua Donaldson, from St. Joseph, Missouri, earned his B.S. in Biological Engineering (Environmental Track) from the University of Missouri. His work sits at the intersection of environmental systems and community health. As technical director for Engineers Without Borders, he led a multi-year partnership in rural Panama, working with the local water board to design and construct a drinking water system for long-term sustainability and health improvement. He now researches critical mineral recovery in wastewater systems at the Missouri Water Center.

Committed to addressing social determinants of health, Joshua has studied environmental factors affecting educational outcomes and led food security programs supporting hundreds of households each month. As Executive Director of Tiger Pantry and Truman’s Closet, he founded a coalition of 21 universities for regional food security, advocacy, and data coordination. He is also a former Critical Language Scholar in Swahili and advocates for international education as an Alumni Ambassador for the program.

Joshua has interned with the Mosaic Life Care Foundation and Black & Veatch, where he explored the intersections of public health, environmental risk, and policy. In his free time, he enjoys long walks, caring for plants, singing, language learning, and playing piano.

He will pursue an MSc in Water, Sanitation and Health Engineering at the University of Leeds and an MSc in Global Environment, Politics and Society at the University of Edinburgh.
