General information

The University of Bradford is part of the fabric of the city and the district, with around 10,000 students and 1,500 staff and a campus that boasts some amazing facilities, from a fully equipped sports centre, opticians, cutting-edge research and innovation laboratories and engineering labs, a recently revamped Student Central and library, together with our open amphitheatre and wildlife gardens – we even make our own honey, thanks to our on campus bee hives. We are conveniently located in Northern England with good transport links to neighbouring cities, the Yorkshire dales, Bronte country and the Peak district.

The University is committed to putting students first, to widening access and to enhancing our research and innovation portfolio through our Bradford-Renduchintala Enterprise Ecosystem, BREE nurtures budding entrepreneurs to develop and grow successful businesses.

Bradford has a proud history of cancer research dating back to the 1950s, with some of the earliest clinical trials for chemotherapy in breast cancer. Today in the era of precision medicine, we are focused on targeted cancer therapeutics and are using our skills and experience in medicinal chemistry, drug discovery, preclinical pharmacology, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics, and cell and molecular biology as we develop new treatments and diagnostics from concept to clinic.

We uniquely integrate archaeology, archaeological sciences, biological anthropology and forensic sciences. This is reflected in three distinctive postgraduate programmes. Whether you’re going to use geophysics, drones, analytical chemistry, CT scanning or a vast array of scientific and humanities research approaches, or whether your interest is in the recent or distant past, we have a programme for you.

Our doctoral college is the home of our postgraduate researchers. It provides a vibrant and supportive community, stimulating research environment and high-quality development and training resources.
