Life in

The University of Dundee is located on a compact city campus in the heart of Dundee, only a five-minute stroll from the city's best shops, bars, arts and leisure venues, yet it remains quiet and relaxed and provides for all aspects of student life. With 17,000 students from over 80 different countries, the University is a welcoming, diverse and vibrant community.

The world's largest annual survey of international students, the International Student Barometer (ISB) 2018 showed overall average satisfaction of 89.6% among Dundee students, the highest score of any participating Scottish universities, 2nd in the UK and 6th globally. Factors relating to Living, Support and Arrival were also identified as being particular strengths of the experience Dundee offers its international students.

The University has over 190 student societies and a wide range of sport facilities. This has led to Dundee having the highest score globally for ‘University Clubs and Societies’ in the ISB. Our Dundee University Students’ Association (DUSA) located at the heart of our campus is ranked 2nd in Scotland and in the top 10 in the UK (National Student Survey, 2017).

All our award-winning accommodation is self-catering, single bedrooms with en-suite shower and toilet. Almost 1600 beds located over 4 sites sharing kitchen and dining space within cluster flats (our accommodation is number 1 in the UK, Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey 2017).

The city of Dundee is currently half way through its £1 billion, 30-year masterplan to design and create an open, inclusive city of the future. At the heart of this plan is the creation of V&A Museum of Design, Dundee, an impressive new centre of 21st century design for Scotland and the world, which opened in 2018. These changes to the city have been noted on the world stage with the Wall Street Journal ranking Dundee alongside Shanghai, Madagascar and the Faroe Islands as one of its ten "hot destinations".

Dundee is known as the sunniest city in Scotland with temperatures reaching the mid-20°C in summer. It has a mild, pleasant climate with occasional snow in winter.

From mountains and lochs in the west to miles of coastline in the east, the city is surrounded by magnificent Scottish scenery providing ample opportunities to play golf, walk, cycle or simply experience the changing seasons in wide-open spaces.
