Porter Nenon

Porter Nenon graduated from the University of Virginia as a Jefferson Scholar with a degree in Political and Social Thought. Porter is interested in the localization of humanitarian assistance, particularly in communities recovering from violent conflict. As an undergraduate, Porter conducted research on gender inequality in rural Tanzania, post-traumatic stress in Rwanda, and education technologies in refugee settlements. He also worked for the International Rescue Committee and UVA’s LGBTQ Center. Porter currently lives in Kampala, Uganda and supports community-based organizations in Rwanda, Uganda, South Sudan and Kenya. Porter plans to study Humanitarianism and Conflict Response at the University of Manchester.
