DR. EMILY CHARNOCK

Dr Emily Charnock will take up the role of inaugural CEO of the Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission from January 2024. With a background in American political history, Emily has studied and taught at universities in both the United Kingdom and the United States, and has extensive experience in the higher education and charity sectors.

A first-generation university student from the North East of England, Emily holds degrees from the University of Oxford, American University, and the University of Virginia, where she was a Jefferson Fellow. Her doctoral research explored mid-20th Century US political history, and she is the author of The Rise of Political Action Committees: Interest Group Electioneering and the Transformation of American Politics (Oxford University Press, 2020).

She is currently Director of the Kennedy Memorial Trust and is a former Keasbey Research Fellow in American Studies at Selwyn College, University of Cambridge.
