Sarah graduated from the University of Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, a Corvias Scholar and and a representative from the Japanese American Citizens League to the Kakehashi Project, which builds bridges between the United States and Japan. She has also served as co-president of her university’s GlobeMed Chapter and currently serves as a Research Assistant for the Chicago Center for HIV Elimination, where she works on a variety of projects intended to promote peer education on HIV prevention and create minority-friendly health services. Sarah will pursue an MSc in Control of Infectious Diseases from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine as well as a DPhil in Epidemiology from the University College London, before returning to the US to obtain a medical degree and pursue a career managing legislative affairs for a state department of health in the American South.
