Sally Matson

Georgetown University

Originally from Burlington, Vermont, Sally Matson studies Math and Computer Science at Georgetown University. Her interests lie in using machine learning to help mitigate and adapt to climate change. For her senior thesis, she is working to increase understanding of methane emissions over space and time through mathematical models; she has also worked at Google on the TensorFlow team and at the Hopkins Applied Physics Lab. At Georgetown, she works for The Corp (a student-run non-profit) and plays clarinet in the Pep Band. With her Marshall scholarship, Sally will spend one year at University of East Anglia studying Climate Change, followed by a year at Cambridge studying Machine Learning and Machine Intelligence.
