Marla majored in computer science, economics and data science, and minored in mathematics and public policy at MIT. As a researcher at MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab and the Brookings Institution, she developed technical and policy approaches for algorithmic accountability. As an undergraduate, she founded MIT's Women in EECS club, helped establish the MIT Science Policy Review, and served as president of MIT's computer science honor society.
