Jessica Yan, from Mesa, Arizona, studied Economics at Stanford University. She developed entrepreneurship education curriculums for Affiliated Stanford Entrepreneurship Students and led the student organization as co-President from 2021 to 2022. She supported climate-curious students as a teaching assistant for undergraduate environmental economics classes. Jessica also designed climate finance frameworks to support community lenders during her internship with RMI. She is a recipient of the Schneider Fellowship, the Mayfield Fellowship, and the Girls Who Invest Summer Scholarship. Jessica plans to work in the intersection of climate policy and finance, designing incentive structures and financial instruments to align private sector actions with climate goals. At Stanford, she was a soprano in Stanford Talisman, a world music a cappella group. She enjoys spending her free time reading, rock climbing, and experimenting with new recipes. During COVID quarantine, she baked more than one hundred loaves of bread.

As a Marshall Scholar, Jessica will study Sustainability, Enterprise and the Environment at the University of Oxford. She hopes to work in the intersection of climate policy and finance, designing incentive structures and financial instruments to align private sector actions with climate goals.
