Dr Samar Malek

Samar will receive her PhD in Structural Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2012. Her doctoral dissertation focuses on the mechanics and efficiency of grid shells. Samar received her S.M. from MIT studying computational mechanics and her B.S. from Johns Hopkins University in Civil Engineering. As a Marshall-Sherfield Fellow, Samar will work with Professor Chris Williams in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at the University of Bath. They will conduct research on computer methods for the geometrical definition and analysis of complex structural forms. Outside of research, Samar's interests include teaching, music, and public service.
