University of Pennsylvania
University of Oxford

Marshall Sherfield Fellow Bryan grew near San Diego, Ca, before heading to Stanford for a BS and the University of Pennsylvania for a PhD, both in Materials Science and Engineering. The Marshall Sherfield award allowed him to live and work at Oxford, which led to positions at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (D.C.) and eventually the University of Connecticut as a faculty member. Bryan is presently the department head for MSE at UConn, and the upcoming chair (2023) of the national organization of MSE department heads (UMC). His research continues to focus on the development and application of novel nanoscale materials property measurements. While in the UK Bryan married a Danish citizen, and along with our son we regularly return to Britain and Europe to reestablish our Oxford connections
