Bob (Waseca, MN) is a senior at Yale majoring in Global Affairs. A nontraditional student, he enlisted in the Air Force soon after high school and served five combat deployments including three tours in Afghanistan and two in Iraq where he rose to the rank of Reconnaissance Troop Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge in the 75th Ranger Regiment's Regimental Reconnaissance Company. A Truman Scholar and Tillman Scholar, he earned over 20 military and academic honors including 2 Bronze Stars and a Joint Service Commendation Medal. Called “one of the top 10 Yale students in the last 34 years,” he is strongly interested in policies surrounding addiction, specifically regulatory and enforcement control of the US opioid epidemic, and has interned at the US Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs as well as consulted at McKinsey. As a Marshall, Bob hopes to pursue the MPhil in Evidence-Based Social Policy at the University of Oxford.
