Kaitlan Bui
Kaitlan Bui, from Orange County, California, graduated from Brown University in 2022 with honours in English Literature and East Asian Studies. Her senior honours thesis synthesized community oral histories, poetry, and diasporic Vietnamese mixed-media to generate a literary re-imagining of Sài Gòn’s fall in 1975 and the “boat people.” She has been awarded multiple honours and fellowships during her undergraduate studies, including Phi Beta Kappa and the Royce and Cogut fellowships. Since graduating, she has been living and writing in Vietnam after a year teaching English as a Fulbright fellow. As a Marshall Scholar, Kaitlan will pursue an MSc degree in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies at the University of Oxford and an MA degree in South East and Pacific Asian Studies at SOAS University of London.
