Michael Chen, from Alameda, California, is currently studying at Yale University as a double major in Ethnicity, Race, and Migration, and Political Science with a certificate of Advanced Language Study in Chinese. Michael is part of the Brady-Johnson Program in Grand Strategy and has interned at The Legal Aid Society’s Immigration Law Unit, New Haven Legal Assistance Association, and Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services. He is a First-Year Counselor and serves as an undergraduate student assistant for Yale Law School's Arthur Liman Center for Public Interest Law. For his senior thesis, Michael is focusing on the creation of New Haven’s Elm City Resident Card, the first municipal ID for undocumented immigrants in the country. As a Marshall Scholar, Michael will be pursuing an MSc degree in Migration Studies, and an MSc degree in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies at the University of Oxford.
