Marley Wait, from Macungie, Pennsylvania, is obtaining a BSc degree in Environmental Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point. Marley recently interned with the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy, and the Environment, where she witnessed how the Department of Defense is working to address environmental issues and to prepare the armed forces to operate in environments impacted by the worst effects of climate change. Marley served as a Lead Cadet in charge of Basic Training at the United States Military Academy's Preparatory School and was able to present her research on sustainable wastewater treatment methods that incorporate resource recovery at the Association of the United States Army Annual Conference in Washington, DC. As a Marshall Scholar, Marley plans to pursue an MSc degree in Environmental Change and Management at the University of Oxford and then attend the University of East Anglia for an MSc degree in Climate Change.
