Carson Eckhard, from Tampa, Florida, recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in History and English. Carson has worked to establish The Liberation Foundation, providing support to currently incarcerated Pennsylvanians by assisting them in litigating wrongful conviction claims and providing reentry preparation support. In 2021, she was awarded the Huntington Public Service Award, a Davis Projects for Peace Grant, and the Penn President's Engagement Prize to expand The Liberation Foundation's reach. Her undergraduate honors thesis was awarded the Rosengarten Prize for most outstanding honors thesis in History. Carson currently works as the Supreme Court practice assistant at McDermott Will & Emery LLP in Washington, DC and serves as the Vice Chair of The Liberation Foundation. As a Marshall Scholar, Carson intends to pursue her MPhil in History from the University of Edinburgh and an MPhil engaging in Socio-Legal research at the University of Oxford.
