Beatrix Frissell, from Missoula, Montana, is studying Environmental Science and Sustainability, and Political Science at the University of Montana. As an intern for the US Department of the Interior, Office of Environmental Policy and Compliance, she has helped develop a tool to identify environmental justice communities around hazardous waste sites for the Central and Hazardous Materials Fund. She is also a member of the University of Montana’s cross-country team and a leader in the student-athlete advisory council. In these roles, she has advocated for transgender athletes in Montana and has worked on identifying barriers to the outdoors for marginalized groups at UM by being a member of the Global Leadership Initiative. She hopes to continue her studies as a Marshall Scholar by obtaining an MSc in Environmental Protection and Management at the University of Edinburgh and an MSc in Environment, Politics and Development at King’s College London.
