Rupert Li, from Portland, Oregon, is currently completing a BSc at MIT, where he is double majoring in Mathematics and in Computer Science, Economics, and Data Science; and concurrently receiving a Masters of Engineering in Computer Science, Economics, and Data Science. He is the recipient of a 2023 Barry Goldwater Scholarship as well as a 2023 Frank and Bennie Morgan Prize Honorable Mention for outstanding research in Mathematics by an undergraduate student. He is also part of the MIT Undergraduate Student Advisory Group in Electrtical Engineering and Computer Science, where he assists in advising policy changes in the Department of Computer Science.
He plans to continue his studies by obtaining an MSc in Pure Mathematics at the University of Cambridge and an MSc in Mathematics and Foundations of Computer Science at the University of Oxford. His long-term goal is to become a Professor of Mathematics in order to advance the appreciation and understanding of mathematics.
