Haaris Jilani, a native of Dallas, TX, studies Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. He was awarded a prestigious fellowship that allowed him to develop a series of hands-on science workshops that he teaches at middle schools around the Atlanta area. He currently works in a lab designing biomaterial platforms to enhance stem cell culture in research and clinical contexts. Haaris is actively engaged in his school’s Muslim Student Association, where he is able to engage in both philanthropic work and religious study. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, lifting weights, bouldering, and metalworking. As a Marshall Scholar, he will study Biomedical Engineering at Imperial College London on his way to pursuing a Ph.D. in bioengineering, followed by a career in academic research with a focus on stem cells and biomaterials.
