The University of St. Andrews offers a perfect location along the North Sea with a global perspective and student interaction in my field of international relations. St. Andrews is an idyllic small coastal town with a large percentage of students that makes the town very university-focused and lively. Social events including balls are held regularly, clubs are extremely inclusive, and all of Scotland easily accessible. My course, international security studies, is a group of 14 from all over the world. A mix of practitioners and academics, the courses and research focus allows a large amount of background for global depth, and research on issues and topics relevant to my interests and future career aims. It has been an amazing experience with friends, connections, and an education I will value for my entire life.
