Michael is an ecologist and studies how management of oil palm agriculture affects biodiversity and ecosystem processes. Originally trained at Loyola University New Orleans, Michael then moved to the University of Cambridge to complete his PhD in Zoology as a Gates Cambridge Scholar. Michael will continue at Cambridge during his Marshall Sherfield Fellowship, establishing a new collaborative project that will shed first insights into the ecological changes caused by the expansion of oil palm in Liberia. Results from the project will inform future management practices. In his free time, Michael enjoys cycling, long-distance running, and camping.
