From March 2014, Pete Vlahos is providing full-time maternity cover for Lizzie Clark until March 2015. He is responsible for providing day to day administrative support to the Assistant Secretary and is often a first point of call for Marshall Scholars requiring information on or assistance with their Scholarship, or with issues relating to their stay in the UK more generally.
Pete also acts as Administrative Assistant to the Harkness Fellows Association, a members' alumni association for former Harkness Fellows, a scheme which ran from 1925-1998 and allowed British Fellows spend a year in the USA.
Originally from Manchester, Pete graduated from the University of Manchester in 2008 with a B.A. (Hons.) Geography. He then went on to train as a secondary teacher of Geography before working for Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) at the British Council in Manchester between 2009 and 2011. He travelled independently around SE Asia for four months before returning to the UK and commencing his employment at the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) in July 2011. Before being seconded to Marshall Aid Commonwealth Commission, he worked on Commonwealth Scholarships at the ACU and has, since December 2011, administered the Distance Learning Programme at CSC. He is also a member of the Staff Committee at the ACU.
In his spare time, he enjoys hiking as well as playing the harmonica and piano.
